Location 5 miles north-west of Annan, on the B723. in Hoddom Castle Caravan Park, off the B725.
Hoddom Castle, built in the 16th century and was a L type tower house, by Sir John Maxwell .The tower was in the northern corner of a walled courtyard and moat, which had two round towers as well. The English captured the castle in 1570. Sir Richard Murray acquired it in 1626, he remodelled the tower and added another two storeys . belmont_stable_cottage
One of very few self-catering cottages within Dumfries town itself, yet in quiet secluded location 10 minutes walk from town centre and 5 minutes drive from countryside. Excellent base for exploring Dumfries & Galloway and 7Stanes mountain-bike trails.
