History

The Lochmaben Stone was a well known 'marker' on the Scottish Marches
Raiding parties into England met here as did Scottish armies.



Notes

Though called THe lochmaben Stone it is situated in the Parish of Gretna at the edge of the River Esk, and not in lochmben.
Alternative Names for the lochmbaen stone are:-Lochmaben Stane, Clochmaben Stone; Clochmabenstane; Locus Maponi and Old Graitney
