Description

History

The Forest of Ae is between Nithsdale and Annandale in Dumfries and Galloway. The Water of Ae, which flows through the forest has a thriving population of otters.


Notes

There is a collection of historic forestry ploughs.
Ae village was built in the 1940s.
LOCH ETTERICK fishery situated just outside the western boundary of the Forest.
The forest was first planted in the 1920s, primarily with Sitka spruce. Is a Red Squirrel conservation area. The area a flood plain for the Water of Ae. which has a thriving population of otters.
